![]() If you want to be extra prudent, make sure you have the Win 7 license key (on CD case or more likely sticker on laptop) in case your digital license doesn’t upload. Win 10 will install ‘clean’ and you will not have to deal with more than the small amount of crapware that MSFT ships with personal Win 10 installs. This way you get rid of useless OEM partitions that serve no purpose. ![]() When you get to installation location, delete ALL partitions on your HDD and let Windows install create what it needs. Then download a Win 10 image onto a bootable USB (MSFT will guide you in the Media Creator Tool) and boot off that USB. Start by installing Win 10 ‘on top’ of Win 7 (in order to fully reg your digital Win 10 license). You can upgrade your Win 7 to Win 10 for free. Apart from iTunes, iMazing is my second choise app for managing iOS, just behind 3uTools. You can even explore and extract files from backups. I've fully tried iMazing's 'paid' version and iExplorer's free (both in W10 and W7), and iMazing is much more stable. I totally support u/appleditz wise decision, and my answer to the topic is: use iMazing. Also, while I'm writing this, Shell Infrastructure Host is consuming 50% of my i7 7700 CPU, a bug known by microsoft since 2018 or earlier, across various versions of W10 and never solved, just because the actual administration of Microsoft doesn't care about anything. Most of the people I know thinks pretty much the same. W10 is the worst crap ever done, in my opinion based on experience, and it only gets worse and buggier with every -forced- update. Even the classic file search feature is almost useless now. Never before in my life (and I started with W95) had so many random BSODs and bugs than now with Windows 10. I would love to hear what your experience has been with these programs, including any issues you have come across. (6) Transfer photos, videos, music and ringtones between devices and computer. (5) Import/export messages between computer and phone. (Can't do it from iCloud "Find my iPhone" is turned off.) (3) Erase all content from the dead phone. (2) Restore backups, especially an iTunes backup from a dead phone. IMazing apparently doesn't need iTunes at all, which is a plus. While iExplorer seems like a better deal price-wise, it does require iTunes to operate. Computers under the iExplorer licence can be registered or deregistered as needed, which makes it a true one-time purchase option. The iMazing licence is limited to the life of each registered device and cannot be transferred, so new devices will cost to add. The licence for iMazing appears to be based on the number of iOS devices you want to use it with, while the one for iExplorer is tied to the number of computers where it will be installed. I have tried out the free versions, and I like both interfaces. I would like to buy one of these programs as an alternative to iTunes for iOS management, and am looking for feedback from those of you who have bought the full version of either one. Update: I bought the 3-device iMazing licence and am very happy with the software, particularly the auto-backup feature, which gives me a better way to transfer photos to my computer than Apple's Photo Stream function.Įditing post for clarity, to keep it on topic
